Inaugural Induction Ceremony of the Hill College Chapter of The National Society of Leadership and Success

HILLSBORO, TEXAS— The Hill College chapter of The National Society of Leadership and Success (NSLS) held the inaugural Induction Ceremony on Friday, May 9, 2020. The chapter inducted 15 members. All inductees were required to complete the following: Orientation, Leadership Training Day, three national broadcasts, and three success network team meetings.

The event started with an address by the Chapter President Jennifer Rodriguez followed by a welcome and invocation by faculty advisor, Jim Williamson. The program proceeded with a congratulatory speech by Hill College Vice President of Instruction, Dr. Kerry Schindler, who encouraged students to “Lead for Hill College”.

All students were inducted followed by the Induction of the 2020-2021 Executive Board (officers).  The induction included a PowerPoint presentation of each inductee on which each inductee stated their major, future goals and their individual philosophy of leadership. The students then took an oath of membership. The following students were inducted: Jack Bennett, LaKayla Cole, Secretary Monica Fraiser, Video Producer Joshua Krayvanger, Treasurer Enrique Mier-zaldivar, Social Events Chair Marites “Thess” Mitchell, SNT Coordinator Richard Mauer, Alma Roberson, President Jennifer Rodriguez, Trajan Snell, Christina Sulak, Vice President Paige Tiemann.

Officers of NSLS are required to have completed or be enrolled in Psychology 2389, Educational Cooperative Leadership, a course designed to develop the leadership potential of students. To enroll in the course, the students are recommended by a faculty member. The course was started in 2008 by current Hill College President Dr. Pam Boehm. In addition, NSLS members are required to have a 2.75 GPA, at least 12 semester hours and the potential for leadership. 

The induction was closed with comments by Chapter Administrator Dr. Lonzetta Allen who congratulated the inductees and thanked the administration for supporting the program. She also acknowledged other administrators and employees who have been instrumental in supporting the inaugural year of NSLS, as well as the leadership course. 

Students who are interested in the program or course may contact NSLS at leadership@hillcollege.edu. Students may also visit an NSLS meeting on the first and third Friday during the fall semester or see their advisor about the course.
